Ask.com have released a new tool available to users of their search engine.
AskEraser will prevent any tracing of search activities of any user who enables this feature when searching on Ask.
It won't however delete any information already stored by Ask, but will prevent any future information being tracked.
It's also worth noting GoogleAds will still be appearing on the site. These ads are still returning data to Google, and there's nothing Ask can do to prevent this.
As such, users concerned with their privacy may wish to block these with AdBlock or similar.
Looks like a promising initiative by Ask, and lets hope others follow their lead.
Don't expect Google to though. They've pretty much made a statement saying they'll render any details anonymous after 18 months.
