Although I have been out of work for almost two years now I've kept very busy using IT skills in a voluntary way....

And recently the government insists I have a work placement, but seem to have got something right for once, in that they have placed me with these guys, who are a very interesting outfit indeed...

I don't start until Monday week, but during the "interview" which was very informal they talked about how they have a couple of projects in mind, one being the setup of an internet cafe environment with about ten 1st generation iMacs they have been gifted, another about working out their own Linux distro to self install a more or less good to go network environment... I feel sure this must have been covered already, so I am confused about that one...

Whatever happens I am sure I'll have an interesting time there... the only down-side is that I do not get paid (they add £15 to my benefits, but travel and sundry costs will swallow that and more).

So - it is a weird feeling - it is like, Yeay! Got a job! DOH! No money! :nervous: :dead:

Hope all goes well for you Mainframeguy. We sometimes get people on work placement where I work in a day nursery, the last 2 girls are now employed with us. :D

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
