I've been getting this prompt everytime I enter XP:

error.jpg

I accidentally installed Adaptec Easy CD Creator v4 when I first installed XP not realizing that it wasn't supported. Ever since then I've been getting the above prompt.
Easy CD Creator has long since been removed.
All I really want now is to get rid of this annoying error...

I did it too

I did this also, not knowing the outcome. I can't remember exactly what I did, so I am going to try and help....can't be sure. I eventually used a restore point to solve the problem. Have you tried to use the "roll back" feature for your driver(s) that are causing the problem? You can find the driver(s) being blocked by looking in the event viewer and then tracking them down and changing them back to what they were. Hope my "help" is not as vaige as my memory......sorry.

Problem is, I installed and uninstalled the software about five months ago. So using a restore point isn't really an option at this point ;)

Using a roll back on the culprit drivers sounds like an excellent idea though.

Thanks for the info... :D

Edit:
I can't seem to find any entries in the event viewer that mention any driver issues. Only thing I'm seeing are remote access events and service errors (from disabling most of them).
Any other ideas on how to find the culprit drivers?

3. Reboot your system.
4. You should now go to "Start" then "Run", type msonfig and select "Normal Startup".

Excellent! Thanks a lot for the info, printing it off right now :D

Well, I tried it and it didn't get rid of the pop up. :(
And since I'd already gone through and deleted all the Adaptec stuff a long time ago the only step that actually did anything was the very last one involving the Upper and Lowerfilters.

Perhaps I should try re-installing Easy CD Creator and then going through these instructions?
