Hi,

I know how to create an icon for shutdown or restart but I use the standby/hybernate a lot and I couldn't find how to create shortcuts for those.

Any help please !

sry, but how do you create icon's for shutdown and restart in the quick launch?

Shutdown:
Code:
%windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -s
Reboot:
Code:
%windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -r
Logoff:
Code:
%windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -l
Standby:
Code:
%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState
Hibernate:
Code:
%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState Hibernate

The above command puts my laptop in hibernation instead of standby. I also tried the following
Code:
%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState standby

still no success !!!

How about this?
Code:
%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState Suspend

Nope....still goes on hibernation !!!

Ya did same for me unless I untick the hibernation option.

But I know of files that will do this that you could just make shortcuts to and put into quick launch.

I tested suspend.exe and it works great.

Package contains:
  • PowerOff.exe
Shutdown Windows and turn off Power (for Laptops).
  • ScrnSave.exe
Start the Screen Saver, open the Display Properties or temporarily disable the Screen Saver.
  • Suspend.exe
    Suspend the Computer (requires APM).

Yup...I just found it and it worked ! but it means I can't use hibernate (not a big deal for me at the moment though)

I downloaded somthing similar earlier (suspend.zip which contains 6 files altogether with un/forced standby and hibernation) but I don't want to use 3rd party programs for such a minor task.

So, for the time being I'm gonna stick with unchecking the hibernate option until I find out another solution. I'm pretty sure there has to be another way for doing this apart from unchecking (or disabling!) the hibernate option.

Anyway, thanks everyone :)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
